Once you hear this, you will surely check your fridge! Seven cheeses have massively been recalled in an issue by Sargento Foods Inc because of a potential contamination from listeria monocytogenes. According to the claims from the company, there are no illnesses reported yet.

The listeriosis is a severe infection usually got by eating food contaminated with bacteria. It has been estimated that about 1,600 people get infected by it on a yearly level, and that about 260 of them die. The bacteria we talk about is especially dangerous for newborns, pregnant women, adults over the age of 65, and people with weakened immunity.

Sargento goes on closely monitoring and gathering information from their supplier, based on Middlebury, Ind. The supplier allegedly informed Sargento Food Inc that a specialty, Longhorn Colby cheese it supplied had possibly been contaminated and needed to be recalled.

The company goes on responding to the customers and providing reimbursements. If you have bought their cheese, you can call 1-800-CHEESES or just send an e-mail to the company via the Contact page on their official website.

The recalled products include:

– Sargento Slice Pepper Jack Cheese

– Sargento Chef Blends Shredded Taco Cheese

– Sargento Ultra Thin Slice Longhorn Colby

– Sargento Off the Block Shredded Fine Cut Cheddar Jack Cheese

– Sargento Chef Blends Shredded Nacho & Taco Cheese

– Sargento Off The Block Shredded Fine Cut Colby-Jack Cheese

– Sargento Slice Colby-Jack Cheese

This recall does not involve the rest of the Sargento branded products.
